Evolution.  What is it?  Is it true?

 
  Ask nearly anyone if they have an opinion on how we got here, or how the world began, and they'll either say they don't have an opinion, they don't know, or recite what they've been taught in school about the Big Bang Theory.  The ones who say they don't have an opinion DO in fact have an opinion, they just don't realise they do.  With further prompting it will become obvious that they have some belief of the following, the following being a standard set of things that form the belief most people have about their origins, as they have been taught to believe it by scientists:

  • The world is many millions of years old

  • The Universe began on its own

  • Life evolved on its own

  • Humans are just evolved apes of some kind
  Why is it these common underlying 'facts' are drilled into everyone, even those who don't think they have an opinion?  Who decided these were 'facts' and not just myths or theories?  Why are children taught every day in schools all over the world that these things are 'facts' and 'the truth' when no scientist can ever analyse it, put it in a test tube, watch it happen or any of the other things true science is based on?  Theories are merely ideas someone has had.  Why is it these ideas of men are being taught as fact and drilled into everyone to the point where they don't think it an opinion, they just think it to be another fact of life?
